And it's also haunting and deep, deep dark.

"Can we just go on to the next video please?"

Whoever said American kids can't make the correct decisions clearly hasn't seen this! My new favourite YouTube series.

MC Solaar (again)

Powaaa

Nicholls got good music taste

MC Solaar. "The only notable French rapper during the 90s". I borrowed 'Cinquième As' from my French teacher at school, the inimitable Mr. Nicholls, and definately didn't regret it. Despite not understanding a large part of it (it's French rap, they speak quick enough as it is!), his flow and delivery vastly makes up for it, and from the sections I do understand, it's easy to see CA is a really poignant album. Similar to with Method Man and Redman's 'Blackout!', I find it really hard to pick a favourite track, but the title track ('Le Cinquième As') and 'L'Homme Qui Voulait Trois Milliards' (below) are pretty high up there.

(Broken that last one rather a lot of late thanks to the beginnings of hay fever. FH.)
An ordinary phone booth was transformed into an aquarium by artists Benoit Deseille and Benedetto Bufalino as part of the Lyon Light Festival in France.
As the designers stated:
“With the advent of the mobile telephone, telephone booths lie unused. We rediscover this glass cage transformed into an aquarium, full of exotically colored fish; an invitation to escape and travel.”
Saw this as a caption to a photo on the wall of a teahouse in Nepal, and it's probably the best motto I've seen. Living every day as if it's your last doesn't work, because it's a very very small chance it is going to be. Following this, you never stop being your own person, whilst moving away from negative things.
A section of the solar disk recorded in 30mph winds at the Winter Star Party on West Summerland Key. The massive detached prominence was visible for hours.

Mos Def

Any man who can be in The Hitchiker's Guide To The Galaxy film as well as having been one of the most influential rappers of the 90s hip hop scene is a good man by my standards!

Electro like you've never heard it before

I'm not even sure how this guy made these or what all the jargon actually means, but from what I can see he's managed to capture the sound of Paint and Firefox. Listen below, it's incredible!

My mind is made up

I'm getting these suckaz! Beats by Dre 'Solo HD' limited edition (PRODUCT) RED. Not only do they look, and sound, sick (I can bear testament to that having tried some), some of the profit goes towards RED, an AIDS in Africa research and treatment charity. £169.99 from all good purveyers of music and technology.

Arcade Fire - 'Funerals'

Arcade Fire have been as good from the beginning as the hype surrounding them recently shows they are now. 'Funerals', their debut, is classic Arcade Fire, with tracks that sound like quiet happiness in music form, and tracks that speak powerfully of missed family members. The most well known track on it is probably 'Rebellion (Lies)', and those of you who saw the Where The Wild Things Are trailer (which you must have done unless you were living under a rock) will recognise 'Wake Up'. This album definately deserves its place iin Nick Grimshaw's 1000 Albums Everyone Says You Should Listen To. Click here to listen.

Ludacris - 'Incognegro'/ 'Back For The First Time'

"Hey ho, how you been ho? Probably doing ho stuff, 'cause there you ho again"

Ludacris' first album, reissued by Def Jam under 'Back For The First Time' in 2000, is sick. Should be in Grimshaw's 1000 Albums as far as I'm concerned. Plus it's one of those rap albums where the skits actually funny!
