Tyler The Creator - 'Yonkers'
When I first heard this when Will Scarborough posted it, I wasn't watching the video, and until I did I thought it was a new Aesop Rock track. Tyler The Creator has a similar sounding voice, and similar weird and slightly surreal lyrics and sound. The video for 'Yonkers' (below) is weird as well, but I like it. It's off his second album, 'GOBLIN' which is set to be out in April. Reading back that didn't sell the track very well, but trust me, I'm downloading it, and you should too, especially if you like Aesop Rock or El-P.
Cassetteboy & Billy Conolly

Cassetteboy doing their usual, this time with Billy Conolly, and as usual it's hilarious! Give it a watch above.
After watching this I looked up Billy Conolly Live on YouTube, and I'm currently in the middle of watching Billy Conolly: Was It Something I Said?. Definately worth checking out, especially if you think political correctness has gone mad.

Uh ohhh
"As a friend of Egypt and the Egyptian people we stand ready to help in any way we can" - David Cameron.
I hope Egypt isn't going to be the next Afghanistan. It's certainly got a similar background though; political instability, the overthrow of a dictator force, a potential power struggle, British interests to protect. Too early to worry though?

So good to see Biggie and The Smiths in there where they belong, but I've really got to question Elbow being in there; there's a point where surreal becomes ridiculous noise, and Elbow cross that line. I seriously recommend you try at least some of these albums, if you're at a loss where to start, I'd say start at the top; 'Blueprint' is seminal. Enjoy!

Enjoy!

Antiz Skateboards on a dirtbike track
Haha, I always thought Antiz was sick, this proves it! Looks so fun, exactly what skateboarding should be about!
Seriously check this out
Harry Wise has been putting together some mashups. And they're sick! Tracks he's used include Notorious B.I.G.'s 'Party and Bullshit', Major Lazer's 'Pon De Floor' and even Tempa T's 'Next Hype'. With a track selection like that for remixes you can't go wrong, and he certainly hasn't! Favourites for me include
Party & Next Bullshit by Harry Wise
and
JME and Tempz On A Mission by Harry Wise
So rad, keep going man!

Inspirational, jawdropping, skillful, so many words to describe this
This has been all over Tumblr and Facebook in the last couple of days, and I thought I'd better help spreading it, because it truly deserves to be seen by everyone
The Great British Class Survey
Do you think the class system still exists? If so, what 'class' would you put yourself and other people in? Is the class system still of any worth at all? I myself think it has no worth, and only leads to resentment between and bias against people. I took the LabUK survey (discussed on The One Show this evening [25th January 2011]) to help researchers answer these questions, simply because I want to know if the class system really does still exist in modern day Britain. The experiment takes about 20 minutes and is completely free and anonymous, and to truly answer the aforementioned questions they need as many people as possible to take the survey. It tells you your social, economic and cultural results compared to the rest of the country, and also displays them in graphs for comparison. The final results of the survey will be released later in 201l.

Long Live The King
It was Martin Luther King Jr. day on Monday (it's always on the 3rd monday in january), and to further celebrate this fact on LIFE.com they've got 19 galleries, truly covering King's amazing journey towards liberation of Black America. Here are some of my favourites from the demonstration in Washington in August 1963, where 200,000 blacks including King, as well as 50,000 whites, marched on the National Mall in Washington DC (where the giant marble statue of Abraham Lincoln is housed). It was the site of King's "I have a dream" speech, and it has been recognised as the turning point in the advancement of Black Rights.
The photo below was taken on 2nd July 1964, at the signing of the Civil Rights Act, the embodiment of one of the most important successes of the civil rights movement.
The tragic murder of King on April 4th 1968 (less than 4 and a half years after the assassination of President John Kennedy, who vociferously defended black rights) shocked the world, and it cannot be put into words the sorrow men and women alike felt when this horrifying event was made public. The following photos and captions are from LIFE. "On April 4, 1968, LIFE photographer Henry Groskinsky and writer Mike Silva, on assignment in Alabama, learned that Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., had been shot at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis. They raced to the scene and there, incredibly, had unfettered access to the hotel grounds, Dr. King's room, and the surrounding area. For reasons that have been lost in the intervening years, the photographs taken that night and the next day were never published. Until now."
Dr. King's Friends Console Each Other
Ralph Abernathy and Will D. Campbell, a long-time friend and civil rights activist, embrace in Dr. King's room. "I was documenting a momentous event, and I thought that at any time I was going to be asked to leave, so I did what I could as quickly as I could."
Cleaning His Blood at the Lorraine Motel
Outside of room 306, Theatrice Bailey, the brother of the motel's owner, sweeps blood from the balcony. "I have to tell you, there was no friction with the people there at the Lorraine, even though here was this White man with a camera on the scene."
Alone After Dr. King's Death
Will D. Campbell, alone on the motel balcony, gazing out into the night. "This photograph was probably made almost as soon as we got there, because there were a lot of people milling about in the dark, and then all of a sudden it cleared up. When I saw him standing there, alone, I thought to myself, 'Wow.' This isn't a posed picture. He's in deep pain, standing there by himself, as if asking, 'My God, what has happened here?'"

'Run Run Run'
"Run away, be a real man, fight another day. I think I heard that in a TV programme, so it must be right, right?"
Ghostpoet told me that, and it's one of my favourite peices of lyrics. Deals with so many issues in one line.

Tallest Man On Earth
I first heard 'King of Spain' on the KEXP Song of The Day podcast back in May, and Will Scarborough recently posting it on Facebook reminded me of The Tallest Man On Earth. Admittedly his sound takes a bit of getting used to, but by the end of the first track on his 2010 album 'The Wild Hunt', you should be very much immersed in his melodic acoustic guitar playing and fascinating lyrics. Highlights for me include the encouraging and upbeat Troubles Will Be Gone, and King Of Spain, the lyrics of which made me smile. In fact, I'd go as far as to compare him to Bob Dylan!

Gentleman's Quarterly
I'll probably get a subsciption soon! Like a tasteful FHM, this monthly men's lifestyle magazine has very well informed features on style, entertainment, women, sport, culture, and everything else that interests a gentleman. At the moment in the magazine itself they've got a big photo shoot with Rihanna, and on the website everything from "100 best things in the world at the moment", to things you didn't know about Frank Sinatra, to a Jessica Alba photoshoot. Well worth checking out, especially for the "25 manly must haves" and the interview with Iron Man himself, Robert Downie Jnr.
